LDI-hosted Q&A Sessions with Current Trainees
In January and February, we host Q&A sessions with our current trainees, without supervisors present. These sessions are intended to help prospective applicants hear directly from current trainees, ask candid questions, and determine whether Learning Dynamics is a good fit for their training goals. Each session lasts one hour.
All interested students are welcome. However, registration is required.

Master’s and Doctoral Practicum Opportunities | 2026-2027 Training Year
Learning Dynamics offers clinical psychology practicum positions for master’s- and doctoral-level students seeking high-quality supervised training in therapy, with optional advanced assessment experience for qualified trainees. Our practicum program is designed for students who want meaningful clinical experience with diverse clients in a collaborative, strength-based training environment.
Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, trainees provide therapeutic services to clients while building their clinical skills through supervision, didactics, case conference, and team-based learning. For the training year, therapy services may be delivered virtually, with no in-person client contact hours required by our agency. However, trainees must still meet all in-person requirements established by their academic programs. Trainees may also choose to see clients in person at any of our office locations: Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, and/or Bakersfield.
Advanced students may also pursue assessment experience. Assessment activities require in-person client contact.

A unique feature of our program is training in therapeutic interventions that strengthen executive functioning skills, which can be beneficial across a range of client needs and learning styles. In addition, client sessions are videotaped to support enhanced supervision and skill development.
Optional Assessment Training for Advanced Students
For trainees who already have experience in psychological assessment, participation in assessment training is optional. This experience is intended for advanced students who want to continue building their assessment skills.
Students who elect this option may assist with physician- and clinician-referred diagnostic clarification evaluations examining two or more domains of functioning. Trainees with advanced assessment skills may also have opportunities to contribute to comprehensive evaluations integrating psychological, neuropsychological, and psychoeducational measures.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, trainees provide individual, family, and couple therapy services. This is a one-year, part-time, unpaid practicum position for the period of 8/11/2027-07/28/2028.
Hours and Weekly Commitment
Practicum positions require an average of 15-18 hours per week, including a minimum of:
5 client contact hours per week for master’s-level trainees
10 client contact hours per week for doctoral-level trainees
Schedules vary based on program needs and must remain consistent with agency policies.
Trainees must have regular availability to meet with clients on at least:
two weekday evenings (until 8:00pm), or
Saturdays
Trainees have flexibility in shaping their schedules as long as they remain available for required meetings, supervision, trainings, and client care responsibilities.
Required Training Activities
Required attendance activities include:
Weekly therapy didactic (Fridays at 9:00am)*
Case conference*
Supervision (typically Mondays and Wednesdays)*
Optional assessment didactic (Fridays at 1:00pm)*
*Days and times for these activities are set around the class schedules of the current cohort.
Orientation and In-Person Requirements
Trainees must attend orientation in our Woodland Hills office from 9:00am-3:00pm daily from 8/11/2027-8/13/2027.
In addition, trainees must attend in-person quarterly staff development events.
Trainees may opt to provide therapy virtually. However, students participating in assessment training must provide assessment services in person at:
Bakersfield
Simi Valley or Woodland Hills
Even if you are primarily based in Southern or Central California, you may need to travel to the other region to conduct or observe assessment cases.
Time Off
Trainees receive a total of 19 days off during the year, including a combination of agency holidays, sick leave, and a personal day.
Eligibility Requirements
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must:
Be a current master’s or doctoral student in psychology, social work, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
Be practicum-eligible
Have completed at least one year of clinical practicum by the start of the training year
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include:
Minimum of two years of experience working in community mental health
Minimum of one year of experience providing therapeutic interventions in Spanish
Experience administering neuropsychological tests, behavior ratings, and report writing, if seeking assessment experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Trainees are responsible for fingerprinting costs
Trainees must maintain and provide a copy of current malpractice insurance coverage
Trainees must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage
