Ms. Norwood earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in African Studies at San Francisco State University. During her undergraduate education, Ms. Norwood worked as an intern with the Ethnic Studies Student Organization (ESSO) at San Francisco State University. As an ESSO student leader she advocated to others about the importance of diverse education and historical acknowledgment of struggles from various ethnicities. The organization helped develop her leadership skills and introduced her to a demographic of students who were willing to learn, but were dealing with financial struggles during their college career. Her interest in the dynamic of communication and its affects within a family unit prompted her to seek further education through a counseling perspective.
